Yes! Hidaya Academy is officially recognized school by the Illinois State Board of Education. The Illinois State Board of Education visited the school in April 2025 and Hidaya Academy passed with flying colors!
Recognition is a voluntary process that non-public schools can participate in. Hidaya Academy passed the audit and was granted the "Recognition Status" by the Illinois State Board of Education. The thorough ISBE inspection reviewed the school's policies, student and staff files, safety records, and other things. The recognition process ensures a standardization of non-profit schools across the state of Illinois.
Recognition allows for Hidaya Academy to access Illinois State resources for its students. These resources include teacher training, English language services for multi-lingual students, and curriculum resources are just to name a few. This will also allow the school to collaborate with Champaign and Urbana school districts.
As part of Hidaya Academy's long term strategic plan, we have obtained ISBE Registration status in 2023-2024, obtained ISBE Recognition status in 2024-2025, and will pursue Accreditation status next year, in 2025-2026. Hidaya Academy will be working to obtain accreditation from a national Islamic accreditation organization, CISNA.
