Why we volunteer

Allah says, "And cooperate in righteousness and piety" (Al-Ma'idah 5:2), and "So race to all that is good" (Al-Baqarah 2:148). The Prophet ﷺ said, "Every act of kindness is charity" (Bukhari 6021, Muslim 1005), and "Allah helps His servant as long as the servant helps his brother" (Muslim 2699a).

Hidaya runs on the effort of its families. When parents coach a team, run an event, or lend a hand in the building, they keep the school strong and affordable, and they show our children what service looks like.

Volunteering also builds community. Allah tells us He made us into peoples and tribes "that you may know one another" (Al-Hujurat 49:13). The Prophet ﷺ described the believers as "like a building, each part strengthening the other" (Bukhari 481, Muslim 2585). Working side by side is how we get to know each other, and how a school becomes a community.

Each family has a volunteer goal for the semester, which you can check privately. If something in your life makes that hard, please talk to the principal.
